As well as seeking to extend badger culling to Avon, Berkshire, Derbyshire, Hampshire, Oxfordshire, Shropshire, Stafford and Warwickshire, the Government also wants to allow culling in some low-risk areas.
It also hopes to remove the cap on the number of new culling zones it can start in any year. This cap is ten new areas per year.
Groups will issue guidance to help people to reply to the Government consultation surveys regarding these two issues.
The map below does not take account of the low-risk areas but shows counties where culling is taking place, and where culling could start this year.
A red county does not mean that culling is happening across the entire county, just that culling is happening in that county.
If you live in any of the red or orange counties, get in touch with your local group to find out how you can protect your local badgers.
