We have managed to set up a BRILLIANT field skills training day on SATURDAY 7th April ,from 12pm onwards. The event will last approx 3 – 4 hours. IT’S FREE too. email us at shropshireagainstthecull@g
There will be a 1hr talk and approx 2 hours “out in the field” doing a mock Wounded Badger Patrol with some role play to re-enact cull zone situations so those needing it, can gain experience and confidence on how it feels to be in a cull zone, what to expect, how to respond when confronted and also learn about how all the different types of activist groups who’ll be out protecting badgers have to work together and in harmony to be successful saving badger lives.
After that, there will be a Q&A session. The day will be lead by Alexa who coordinates the Gloucestershire Against Badger Shooting (GABS) and Wounded Badger Patrols (WBP).
While the event is especially beneficial for those who’ve not been to a cull zone before, those who have are really welcome too, to offer advice and tips, learn new things that may have been developed since last year and also to fill some of the roles needed for the role play – we will need ”police”, ”landowners” and those “involved in the cull”. It’d be also beneficial if some people from sab groups who’ve been to a zone could attend to help demonstrate how sabs and WBP work together.
There is a massive 50-60 spaces available for this training day, so please come and also bring trusted people, SATC need to recruit!
(We have most of the role players lined up – but please email us if you’d like to play a role play part).
What you’ll need –
● Sensible walking footwear.
● Sensible outdoor/walking clothing.
● Pen and note pad/clip board.
● Snack and a drink.
● If you have an OS map Landranger 126, please bring that along – the area where the training day will be held.
● Your mobile device with map and Grid ref apps on if that’s what you use.
If you’re interested in attending, please email shropshireagainstthecull@g

Hey – There’s plenty of jobs in a cull zone for any ability and various ways to be a life saving presence. You don’t have to wander dark fields to help save badgers!
